Nayeon, A Mother Met her Deceased Daughter in a Virtual World

SEOUL – represented a sobbing reunion of an emotionally grief-stricken mother with her daughter, Nayeon in a special TV documentary. Her daughter died of a disease that was rare and incurable when she was of only seven. Both reunited with each other in the virtual world. This story has taken the hearts of many spectators in South Korea. 

When Jang Ji-sung, the mother of four children, met her departed girl, Nayeon said, “Maybe it’s a real paradise. I met Nayeon, who called me with a smile, for a short time, but it’s a pleasing time. I think I’ve had the dream I’ve always wanted.”

“I Met You”

“I Met You” was the MBC documentary released on February 6. The production team has taken almost eight months to implement Nayeon’s face, body, and voice by using VR technology. The mother reunited with her daughter in a park with many memories. She recorded the movement of the kid to reproduce the scene at a VR store. Thus, she captured the action and then implemented it on the monitor.

Nayeon had the third number in children of Jang, left her in 2016. To never forget her daughter, Jang engraved her daughter’s name and birthday on her body. She visits a catacomb once in a month, wearing a necklace with Nayeon’s bone powder.

When a beautiful butterfly flew and sat in a peaceful place, Jang heard the sound of Nayeon’s song. The mother couldn’t control her tears when her daughter left her with pain. She cried and said, “Mom, “Where have you been, Mom? Did you think about me?”

Jang replied with a depressed voice, “I do all the time.” As Nayeon said, “I missed mom a lot,” the mother replied, “I missed you, too.” Jang was careful enough to hold her daughter’s hand before her demand, “mom, please hold my hand.” The mother finally did it with eyes and heart full of tears and sorrow. Nayeon’s father, brother, and sister were also crying while watching the encounter they’ve dreamed of at the side of the virtual stage

A Birthday Party

After it, the family arranged a birthday party for the daughter with seaweed soup, and they lighted up the candles on the cake. Nayeon had a wish that never let her mother cry. So, They considered it, and Jang didn’t drop tears. 

 Compensate Others who have Lost Relations

The mother said she wanna emerge in the story to console “someone who has lost a child like me, or who has lost a brother or a parent.” After releasing this documentary to the next day, more than 200,000 people have approached Jang’s blog until it was locked. The mother restrained her age and location. 

Jang mentioned on her blog, “Three years later, I now think I should love her more than miss her and feel sick so that I can be confident when I meet her later. I hope many people would remember Nayeon after watching the show.”
